Information Technology (IT) is the booming field in today's scientific world, which blends computers and communications. It provides vast knowledge about recent innovations.  IT is the technology that is driving what has often been called "The Information Revolution."  It includes matters concerned with furthering computer science and technology, design, development, installation, and implementation of information systems and applications.

In the department of Information Technology, students get introduced to the concepts of both communication and computer technology. Emphasis is given to introduce the concept of Information Technology Architecture wherein the students learn about the logical and technical components required to achieve the strategic goals of IT.

The department focuses on the overall development of today’s student community emphasizing on three strategic goals... Acquire, Understand and Develop


CURRICULUM

The curriculum is well equipped to include all the aspects of Information Technology and to provide the necessary practical exposure to the students.

Learning subjects like Computer Networks, Network design security and management, High performance Networks along with Telecommunication Systems, Telecommunication switching techniques and Principles of Data Communication provides students with adequate knowledge in both networks and communication.   

Along with these specialized subjects meant for IT, students also learn subjects like Data Structures and Algorithms, Database Management Systems, Computer System Architecture and System Software, which give them insight into the core concepts of computers.

The syllabi is revised and updated from time to time to include all the advanced courses in par with latest trends. Students are encouraged to conduct seminars and symposiums.  Industrial visits are also arranged to help students to gain more exposure and get a clear idea about implementation of core concepts in IT.

LABORATORIES

The department is well equipped with all the essential laboratories like

·         Multimedia Lab

·         Programming Lab

·         LINUX Lab

The department also houses a 24-hour Browsing center for the sole utilization and benefit of the students.

MULTIMEDIA LAB

The multimedia Lab is equipped with 10 units of Mac Apple systems along with complete multimedia software and accessories. The students learn to design applications by integrating audio, video, animation, and graphics. The students gain knowledge about packages like 3D-Studio Max, Maya, Flash, Photoshop, Premier, etc. Good hands-on training in this lab helps students to identify themselves in job openings like graphic designers in the market.

PROGRAMMING LAB

The programming Lab is equipped with a MS Windows 2000 professional server and 45 units of P4 systems, operating at 1GHZ. Students are trained in  C, C++, VB, VC++, Java and other packages.

LINUX LAB CUM BROWSING CENTER

The Lab is equipped with a P4 Linux server operating at 1.8 GHZ and 25 nodes running and Red Hat Linux 7.0, Windows XP, 2000 professional & other accessories. Students are introduced to the concepts in Linux Network programming  which proves to be an essential element in the upcoming trend.

IT ASSOCIATION

The association of the department of Information Technology, "TECHULURE – Pinnacle of Performance”, was started with the aim to encourage the students of IT & various departments to enhance their technical skills. From the time of inauguration, the association remains very active, by conducting technical seminars, personality development classes, symposiums and career development programmes for the benefit of the students.

The department conducts an inter-department symposium, "Embezzle - Steal the show"  every year in the month of September & various technical events like paper presentation, Seminars, Debugging, Treasure Hunt and  Project display are conducted.
